Zodiac

Went to see this movie tonight. Brilliantly done. Fascinating story and superb acting. Not your typical Hollywood blockbuster. Directed by David Fincher who is one of my favourite directors. It's the true story of a serial killer in California during the late 60's and early 70's. Tells the story of the frustrating search for the killer by the police and a newpaper cartoonist who becomes obsessed. Almost overloads you with facts and snippets of evidence and never resorts to cliches but it's gripping til the end. Would recommend it to anyone who likes an intelligent thriller. If you liked All the President's Men you'll like this.

Wikipedia / Music / Nostalgia

I'm addicted to Wikipedia. I can't help it. Stumbled upon it a few months ago and now I can't get away from the bleedin thing. It's one of the best things about the web. You key in a word or phrase, read up on the thing you are interested in, and here's the best thing...there are peripheral links to tonnes of other stuff.

So it's 9pm on a school night. You see something or someone on TV that catches your eye. Type it into wikipedia, read up on your subject then read about something else that's related, then onto something else again and before you realise it's 1am and you're reading about the agriculture industry in Outer Mongolia when all you really wanted to do was perve at Chris Meloni.

Anyway, somehow I ended up on a page that listed Christmas No 1 singles in the UK. God knows why. And I got hit by a massive wave of nostalgia. It's funny how you can associate feelings and senses of time from songs. I'm a big muso anyway so it might mean more to me. But have a scan, especially if you're British and see if it can't stir up some memoires.

Uluru (Ayres Rock)

8th - 10th June

Me and Mr Mark have been on an advenure. Can't live in Australia without going to visit this natural wonder. We both took the Friday off work, headed to the airport and 9am. Skim latte and a sausage muffin and we're off to Uluru with Qantas. Flight is around 3 hours. Landed midday and eventually checked into the Sails in the Sands hotel. 5 star luxury with a massive spa. Very nice. (Not quite 5 star in any other location but good enough), Did the Sound of Silence dinner where we saw the sunset and were given a brilliant talk on the stars. There is zero light polution there so you can very clearly see the milky way and millions of stars. Pretty awesome, one of the highlights. Did the trip to the Rock, took 3 trillion photos. Had posh dinner, played tennis and then on Sunday took a helicopter flight. Pretty awesome, never done this before. Went to see the Olgas up close too on this flight. Would recommend it to any visitors. Glad I made the trip. 2 days is plenty. Just watch out for those pesky flies and don't forget that you can freeze your tits of in the middle of winter when to take a trip to the middle of the desert.
